Nothing 'cool' about the cold...

Read a news article today by ctv.ca about dogs being rescued from a dog breeder in Quebec who kept approximately 35 small breed dogs in unheated cages outside.

We have been having a crazy cold winter here in Toronto, this morning it was -18, and it was reported the night-time temperatures at the breeding facility in rural Quebec hovered between -30 and -40. This would have been extremely cold for these small dogs - nothing short of cruel and uncaring. The article uses the term 'breeder', I am thinking 'puppy mill'...

George is a big boy, and he has warm thick fur, but I can clearly see that even he finds these temperatures to be uncomfortable. Our daily walks are much shorter than normal these days.  They have to be... it's only common sense.

Cruelty charges are being organized against the breeder, as they should be.  Please don't assume that just because your dog has "fur", that they are warm enough to manage in these cold temps. It's best to be overcautious and limit your time outside with your furry friend... no person, or dog, should have to suffer in the cold unnecessarily.

Stay warm...! #freedayswithgeorge
